It’s been 4 months since the lockdown implemented throughout India on the view of the Covid outbreak. Before the official lockdown itself, Theater management has decided to shut down the Theaters across India. Post 2 phases of Lockdown government started giving exceptions for few industries and continued lockdown 3 and lockdown 4.
From May India Government has started lifting the lockdown with certain guidelines for Unlock 1 & Unlock 2. Discussions are going for Phase 3 Unlock where the entertainment industry may get an exception like for Theaters, Gyms & Parks. The government to give guidelines of Unlock 3.0 very soon and Theaters across India are to be re-opened. Multiplex chains across India are getting ready as they were the first who have given an open request letter seeking permission.
Though there were many questions like will the audience come back to theaters, will new films hit screens, few producers who own many screens across the Telugu States are not willing to re-open the theaters in August. As they are discussing to re-open with only 25% occupancy few Producer like Suresh Babu says it’s very bad decision to re-open Theaters at this stage. Very low occupancy and shows being canceled in other countries who started resuming screening are other main points that are being raised. Let us wait for the final decision from Government and the Theater owners.
