Dhanush’s latest bilingual blockbuster Vaathi (SIR) Movie has crossed the magical figure of 100 Crores Gross at the box office. The film opened to decent word of mouth from the audience and the reviews from the critics were good too. The positive response cultivated into superb collections at the box office.
Directed by Venky Atluri, Dhanush’s film ‘Vaathi’ was released in theaters on February 17. The film is a Tamil–Telugu bilingual film, and it was released with the title ‘SIR’ in Telugu. The film’s cast includes Samyuktha Menon as the female lead and Samuthirakani as the antagonist, with Sai Kumar, Tanikella Bharani in other important roles.
The movie has had a good run until now, and it will continue for this weekend too, as the continuous failures of new releases are helping the film in both Telugu and Tamil States. Director Venky Atluri is known for love stories, but this time he handled a serious issue and impressed everyone.
The story of ‘Vaathi/SIR’ is set in the 90s and Dhanush appears in the role of a professor who fights against the corporate business and people who don’t want the poor and underprivileged students to succeed. The film focuses on the drawbacks in privatization of education. GV Prakash composed the music for the movie.
The movie will soon make its digital premiere. Meanwhile, after SIR, Dhanush is currently shooting for his film ‘Captain Miller’ directed by Arun Matheswaran. He has also signed up for his next film, which will be trilingual and directed by Sekar Kammula.
A couple of weeks back it was also officially announced that Dhanush will direct his 50th film, tentatively called ‘D 50’. The film will include a huge star cast which includes Dhanush, SJ Suryah, Vishnu Vishal, Kalidas Jayaram and Dushara Vijayan. The movie is touted to be a gangster drama, and the buzz is that it will be titled ‘Raayan’.
